Raja- Congestive Heart Failure

Raja is only 2 years old. He was recently admitted to the ER last Friday for possible choking. It turns out, he has fluid in his lungs, otherwise known as pulmonary edema, and an enlarged heart.  The edema was a secondary side effect of his heart failing. As a result of his visit, he has been diagnosed with congestive heart failure. Typically cats don’t show signs of CHF until much later stages, so cats can often go undiagnosed.

Since his ER visit and his follow up appointment today, he is now on 3 different medications for his heart and his lungs. His emergency visit and follow up appointments and bills have been quite costly.  Raja will need consistent visits and procedures along with daily medication for the rest of his life.
 
As of right now, he is doing better and seeing a lot of improvement in regards to his breathing. He is still isolated in one room at home though to keep him as stress free as possible to prevent another episode. His toys have been momentarily taken away until he sees signicant progress in energy levels and he returns to eating normally.
