Volunteering with Gambian Education

I will be travelling with a group from Strathclyde University to The Gambia in March this year. Whilst there, we will be working alongside primary schools, attending teacher training courses at the local university, liaising with local government and speaking with leaders in education. The aim of our trip is to continue and strengthen the link between Strathclyde and Gambian education, and to also push for improvement in education by assisting in proposing methods which may work within the Gambian culture. Gambia are majorly lacking in educators, so our plan is to host classes at the university for those in their teacher training. We will be working closely with the schools to understand what resources they are lacking, and once returning home, we aim to put together packs to assist educators in these schools.
