Voluntary Midwifery Elective: Merida, Mexico

In August 2019 me and 3 of my fellow student midwives will be undertaking a 3 week elective placement to Anuradhapura in Sri-Lanka.
I will be working alongside health care professionals in this developing country to gain experience and care for women and their families in a local hospital.
This is an important opportunity for us to further appreciate the NHS and understand how health care is conducted in a country which isn't as fortunate to have a national health service.
Unfortunately there is no long NHS funding for the midwifery degree course, making it difficult to earn money between full time placement and university.
I have therefore set up this ‘GoFundMe’ page as a way of raising funds for this placement alongside working part time - and would be beyond grateful for any donations, no matter how big or small ❤️
