God Is Up To Something Good In Our Lives

Rebekah and I are going on a 3 week road trip out west to discover more of who God is and pursue healing. We will tell you more about the why behind our trip but first I want to tell you a little bit about our story. Rebekah and I became roommates last year and neither of us had any idea the gift that God had given us in each other. We both called off our engagements (within the past year) and would never have guessed how similar our stories would be. We have sat for numerous hours on the stoop of our home, building friendship and trust in one another and in Jesus. We've cried together, laughed together, dreamed together. We're growing our roots deeper and discovering what wholeness and community looks like.
Though nights on the stoop are dear to my heart, I sensed a need to create more space to allow myself to fully heal and restore intimacy in my relationship with God. Thankfully, my work approved me taking a 3 week non-paid sabbatical and so I started dreaming of what this could look like. Just a few weeks prior to this, Rebekah gifted me with a book, Through Painted Deserts by Donald Miller, a book that she too had read earlier in the year. The book is Donald Miller's story of leaving the comfort of his home, loading up his friend's Volkswagen bus, and heading out west. He tells his story of discovering himself and God. It is inspiring to say the least. With this, I began loosely planning my own trip out west. I originally wanted to take this trip solo but as time went on and I continued to pray, I quickly realized this is not a trip to take alone. That this should be shared and experienced with others and during a typical "stoop" hang out, I asked Rebekah to join me. She. Was. In.
During this 21 day trip we have intentionally planned topics for prayer for each day and we want to invite you to partner with us in prayer (you will get a separate email about this). We want to include our community and friends in this road towards wholeness. This road trip is dedicated to seeking the Lord and His healing, to remember where we came from and allow ourselves to be truly in awe of His glorious creation. We both experience the Lord most while on the move and in nature so obviously we are both excited to see how He is going to show up in this. During this time we will be fasting daily and keeping our electronic usage to a bare minimum as to have minimal distractions.
So this is is where the financial part comes in. Turns out, calling off a wedding is expensive and so is not getting paid for three weeks BUT what is money? If God is calling you to something, money should never be a barrier. Rebekah and I both have complete faith that by taking this step of obedience in Him, He will provide for us.
So here is our budget:
$750- Gas
$250 -Housing
$450 -Food
$300 -Activities (i.e. park passes)
$250 -Emergency
$200 - Generosity to others we meet/share about God
Here is what we will give you per donation:
$25+ Postcard
$50+ Postcard & a pressed flower
$100+ Postcard, pressed flower, and a mini watercolor painting
Thanks for partnering with us in friendship, prayer, and/or financially!
