VMS to United Nations
Donation protected
Our VMS Upper Elementary has an opportunity to participate in a simulation of the United Nations sponsored by MMUN (Model Montessori United Nations) in New York City. We are aiming to participate in the event held on March 14 - 17, 2018. The vision at our school is to firmly establish in the hearts and minds of our students the need to practice reconciliation and peaceful negotiations when conflict arises. MMUN allows our students to build on their classroom experience and deepen their commitment to practice these principles in their personal lives.
At the actual MMUN event, our group will be assigned a country and a topic to research and will represent that country and the assigned country’s point of view on that topic. This will be a hands-on opportunity for our students to practice being peacemakers on a grand scale.
The trip will average $1,000 dollars per student plus additional expenditures for the chaperones accompanying the group. Our set goal of $10,000 will cover these expenses and we are asking you to carefully consider financially participating in this great opportunity.
As a small private school, VMS strives to give children that need our services the ability to attend our school, even if parents are having financial difficulties and cannot pay all or part of the tuition. This Go Fund Me fundraiser is one of the many ways the elementary classroom is raising the necessary funds to make this trip possible.
You can find more information about the program on MMUN's website at https://montessori-mun.org/us/. For more information about Village Montessori School at Bluemont please visit www.villagemontessori.org.
Thank you so much for contributing to this valuable experience for our students.
