Lindas Brain Surgery Fund

Dear Friends,

We would first like to thank you so much for all your prayers and support. God is definitely working!

9 years ago Linda was diagnosed with a cavernous malformation in her cerebellum. It is a cluster of abnormal dilated vessels that can hemorrhage at any time. When this happens a wide variety of symptoms can occur, and each time it bleeds the symptoms get worse, and some often stay even after bleeding. For 8 years and many bleeds we were told that it was inoperable and to be ready for the day she has a stroke. We were even given the signs to look out for and we knew that this couldn't be the answer. Linda's worst fear more so that dying, was her husband and kids visiting her in a nursing home, with her in a vegetative state. After doing much research we found a neurosurgeon who reviewed Linda's scans, and said surgery was recommended and he would do it. This was, and is a huge blessing to our family! The surgeon is world renown for his work with cavernomas and believes he can get 90 percent of it out of her brain.

After getting over the shock that surgery is actually going to happen, we started realizing that this is going to be a huge expense. The doctor is in Phoenix, Arizona and surgery is coming up soon. Due to such a major surgery and not knowing how long we will be there, the whole family and Linda's parents will be coming. Some of our expenses are as follows:

- buying 2005 Ford van to carry everyone
- lodging to and from Arizona
- lodging near Phoenix
- food and gasoline
- lost income

We will be leaving on December 17th and arriving in Arizona on the 19th; Pre op is the 20th and surgery the 22nd. We know we will be there at least a week and a half, but not sure what day we will be coming home. It really depends on how Linda is doing and if she is ready for the long drive home. Our number one request is for everyone to pray for Linda's surgeon, Dr. Robert Spetzler and his team, our travels and a speedy healing process. This is a big and extremely risky surgery for her but we know that God is in control and Linda is at peace with whatever outcome.

We want to thank you in advance for any help you are lead to give big or small. Our family and friends have been great and so supportive! Any questions you have please feel free to contact James or Linda.
