Leslie Townsend is a fighter. Her strength, warmth, and positivity through this Breast Cancer diagnosis has been inspiring. While the cancerous lump has been removed from her body, she still has six months of Chemotherapy and Radiation Treatment to go through. "It is with a heavy heart and deep feelings of hope that I am sharing an experience that is so intimate and personal to me. I was recently diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I noticed a small dimple under my arm that I thought, “maybe it is just a bit of fat”. My gut was saying otherwise. I had recently participated in a Cancer walk in memory of my Mother. Listening to the survivors speak there was a common theme, don’t ignore the signs no matter how insignificant they may seem. I’am sharing because I want to bring awareness to the importance of self exams and subtle changes that cannot go ignored. I’am sharing where typically I’am very private because I’am afraid. I know this is not unique to me. I know that I’am blessed that it is not a more aggressive form of Cancer. The road to wellness will be challenging and uncomfortable. It is a fight that is foreign to me but I have been a warrior through difficult circumstances before. I will rise and be brave! To all of the beautiful Women this post reaches..Mothers, sisters, daughters, wives and friends..pay attention to your body. Be familiar with your “normal” and question what is not! Love and light. "
