Young Life Camp Scholarship

My name is Olivia Watson and I've been involved with an organization called Young Life for over 7 years now. This organization has opened so many doors for me in my own life, providing opportunities for me to grow and experience Jesus Christ in a way that has been so extremely real and powerful.

One of the biggest steps in my faith began in 7th grade when I went to a week long Young Life camp in Michigan called Timberwolf Lake. That week meant so much to me and really was the start of me taking my faith into my own hands and pursuing God in a way I never had before.

The past two summers, I have been a leader for middle school and high school aged kids at camps like Timberwolf. Now that I'm a freshman at IU, I have officially been placed as a leader at Brown County High School and have already met some of the most amazing kids I know alongside a team of leaders that is so in love with them and so willing to do whatever it takes to bring them to camp and more importantly, a relationship with Christ. I absolutely love being a leader and love that Young Life has inspired me to pursue this passion after years of watching my own Young Life leaders set an amazing example.

This year, I am running my 3rd Indianapolis 500 Festival Mini Marathon, which is a race spanning 13.1 miles that takes place on May 7th (I promise this is related). My hope is that this year, I can run for something other than myself. I am hoping to get sponsorships from friends and family for each mile that I run on race day in order to motivate and encourage me, while also serving a bigger purpose: providing a scholarships to Young Life camp for kids that truly need it. The way it works: a $13 donation to this page would mean sponsoring me $1 per mile, a $65 donation means sponsoring me $5 per mile, etc. The hope is that each mile would then have a bigger meaning to me as I run the race, giving me something to keep running for while lifting up the need of the kids I love so much at Brown County High School that could be missing out on the opportunity to experience Jesus at Timberwolf Lake.

I truly believe that by asking friends and family to support me in this, I can raise $800 total ($61 per mile), which is enough money to send at least 3 kids to Young Life camp that otherwise could not afford it without the help of these partial scholarships. Because Young Life camps over the past 7 years have been such a huge part in shaping who I am today, I would love to provide even one kid the opportunity to experience what I was so blessed to have experienced.

Your donation would not only give me something to run and train for as I prepare for the Mini Marathon, but it can also help to cover the cost for the kids of Brown County High School that otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it so they can experience the best week of their lives.

I appreciate your support so much!!
