Rebuild a School in Saipu, Nepal
Donation protected
On April 25, 2015 the country of Nepal was hit with a magnitude 7.8 earthquake that killed at least 9000 people, injured another 23,000, and left hundreds of thousands of people homeless. Recovery has been slow, particularly in rural, remote areas where reconstruction aid has not yet arrived. The community of Saipu (population 3000), located in the Ramechhap District around 175 miles east-northeast of Kathmandu, lost 85% of its structures, mostly homes. They also lost the only school in their remote region, an educational opportunity for more than 300 children, more than half of them girls who without an education will be left with few choices but to marry early. Built in 1999 with the help of Dinesh Paudel, who grew up in the community but currently lives and works in Boone, NC , the school is not likely to be rebuilt since priority is being given to housing by the government. We are friends of Dinesh Paudel who want desparately to rebuild the school before winter arrives in full force. It's not much money to change the lives of hundreds of children now (less than $50 a child) and thousands more in the future. Please help.
