This GoFundMe is for ViXeN, my Hero cat. For the full story on why s/he is an Hero, see my Imgur Post .
This is why I'm asking for so much money: ViXeN spent last night in the Emergency Room with a blockage, preventing urination.  Here's the rundown:
Last Saturday, I noticed that ViXeN was having some trouble using the catbox. I thought it was just constipation, turns out it's not poop at all! But I'll get to that. So ViXeN was having some trouble and I was keeping an eye on her. Later that night, she seemed OK. Great, she must have finally taken that massive dump. Sunday, ViXeN was great, happy and even a little playful. When I came home Monday night, however, she immediately tried to pee in the floor and couldn't.
"Well," I thought, "I'll take her to the Vet first thing in the morning and keep an eye on her tonight."
I ate dinner and ViXeN remained out of sight, which is a little odd for her because she's usually at least in the same room as me. I'm her favorite human by far.
So after dinner, I went looking for her, and found her hiding in a closet.
"Well, that's probably because she's not feeling well again. I'll take her to the Vet in the morning."
I got down on the floor and looked her in the eye.
She told me with that stare, "I'm not well, Daddy. You gotta help me or I'm going to die."
I stood up and told my girlfriend that "I'm taking ViXeN to the Emergency Room tonight." then asked if she was joining me.
I'm very glad that she did, indeed, join me. When I picked ViXeN up to put her in her carrier, she didn't fight me.
ViXeN was born on christmas, 2007. She's almost 10 years old now. B
ut ViXeN was not named for the reindeer of the same nomenclature, no way. ViXeN earned her name.
She's left scratches on people's faces, their feet, their arms, and just about everywhere else. She's not a nice Kitty if she doesn't know you. She knows I'm her human and I'm OK.
Yes, I belong to my Cat, not the other way around. My girlfriend is "alright" and "acceptable" but even she gets clawed from time to time.
When ViXeN was younger, she clawed me, too, but in her adult years, she has come to understand that I'm her human and things are much simpler if she lets me do what I want.
There are exceptions, however. One of those exceptions is getting her into her carrier. She does not like that thing one bit. She has clawed me more than once when I tried to put her in there.
Last night, I put on a jacket to protect my bare arms. I didn't need it, though. ViXeN didn't fight me and I knew immediately something was very wrong. So we took her into the Denton County Animal Hospital who told me that an initial exam is $85. My girlfriend's sister has a Care Credit card and offered to help us, since I literally had $9.99 in my bank account no cash on me.
So we went with the card and got her seen. When the Veternarian came out, after the exam, she told us, "ViXeN is a boy."
"Wha-what? Are...are you sure? Because...becuase she's always been girl, to me," I asked.
The Veternarian was positive and that wasn't the only news she had for us. ViXeN has a blockage and needs surgery to get it out. "Well, poop. How much is that going to be, Doc?"
"About $1238.00"
"Wha-what?" I asked again. She confirmed that was indeed the price. So I began applying for credit. Scratch Credit appears to be the easiest to get approved through, so let's try them. Nope, denied. My credit is too far gone for Scratch Credit. "Well, OK, for giggles, I'll try Care Credit, too." Nope, denied there, too.
Quick reasoning for my credit getting denied: My ex-wife was awarded the house in our divorce, then proceeded to fail to move the house to her name, fail to pay for it and get my credit completely ruined because of it.
So the Denton County Animal Emergency Room agreed to finance me for 18% interest. "Cool, I can get my Hero Cat saved! YaY! Oh, wait, what? You want $500 in the morning when my Veteran's Administration check clears? Well, OK, if it will save my ViXeN, sure. But I still have bills to pay and I should be able to do that with what's left over. Alright." So I paid them the $500 and took possession of ViXeN. Then they tell me, "ViXeN still has a catheter in his urethra. And an IV in his arm. So he's going to need to go directly to his regular Veternarian."
So I took him to his regular Veternarian for his after care. Well, they tell me it's going to an additional $350 per day for at least 2 days. "Waitaminute. I might have $700 in my account right now, but I still have to pay bills. Here, take this $250 for today, and I'll figure out how to eat and pay those bills later. ViXeN is a Hero Cat and deserves all I can give him."
So here I am. A Veteran, a loving Father of two beautiful girls, 22 & 23 years old, and I've been saved by this Wonderful, mean cat who beats up on anyone he doesn't like because "Screw You! He's MY human and you know where you can go what you can do when you get there!"
I love my ViXeN, gentle readers. Thank you for taking the time to read all the way to the bottom and hear my story. Any little bit you can give will help me. Please. I'm begging on my knees for help for my cat who saved me twice from a fire, and at least a dozen other times from losing my mind. He's a good soul and he needs YOUR help. Although he's not officially approved and neither am I, ViXeN is my PTSD cat who saves me every day. Can you find it in your heart to save ViXeN?

As per the rules of this site: I am NOT trying to raise money for the wildfires in California, thought it is a good cause. I live in Dallas, Texas and I plan to spend any funds received on paying off ViXeN's healthcare bills.
