Visa, marriage & the American Dream

Dear reader,

Thank you for clicking on my campaign. Please let me tell you my story.

My name is Adrian. I am 29 years old and I'm from Hungary. Currently I like and work in the United Kindgom. Now you must be wondering that how does America fit into this picture. Two years ago I met someone online who I became friends with. This kind guy happened to be a Mormon and introduced me to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Despite me not being a religious person at all, he raised my interests in the gospel and made me start looking up stuff online and eventually starting to read the Book of Mormon. (Props to him! Job well done.)

As I've become more and more interested in the church, I eventually started taking lessons with the local missionaries (who weren't that local as they were Americans, haha) and made the decision to get baptized. By that time I've made many friends in the US through my other friend and I really wanted them to be present at my baptism. The easiest way to do that was to fly overseas and get baptized :) I have never been to the US before and it was schocking to me. Beautiful mountains, good people and of course the food. I loved every second of it and was really sad when I had to come back here.

As fate would have it, I met a girl online on FaceBook in an LDS Singles group. We started chatting last December and she stole my heart. Her humor, kindness and open-mindedness were very attractive to me, not to mention her beautiful smile and voice. We've spent all our time with chatting and calling each other, despite the 7 hour time difference we have. I know that some people don't really believe in long distance relationships, but I can tell them that they exist. And oh boy, what a blessing it had been for me to find this girl!

Back in March this year I was fortunate enough to spend a few days in Utah. Using my chance, I asked out Kirsten for a date. She did manage to surprise me though as she was waiting for me at the airport when I arrived, but we were only meant to meet for the first time 3 days later after my arrival! She has been awesome with surprises ever since.

We really have had a fantastic time together and I've fallen more and more in love with her especially after meeting in person. Her feelings were the same towards me and no matter the distance we've never given up on each other. I've felt like my prayers have been answered as my deepest wish was to find a partner. I have found much more than that in Kirsten. She's my other half. My biggest supporter, motivator and helper. I love her so much!!! She is truly fantastic.

I had a 2 week long break from work in August and I flew back to see Kirsten again. Feeling nervous and trying to find the right words, I proposed to her during my visit. She said yes! Her family was also super nice and supportive, I've felt like I'v come home. I can't really explain how I felt during that time. It sounds like a cliché, but I have never felt that happy and relaxed in my whole life. Every second we've spent together was filled with happiness and joy. She's the one I want to spend the rest of my years with. I miss her so much. I could write a whole book about how amazing she is.

Our goal is to get married and get me to the USA permanently. Since many friends expressed their congratulations and willingness to help towards us, I have been convinced to create this campaign.

It's not easy. First and foremost we need to sort out the whole visa application to get married. It is really, really difficult and we will probably have to hire an attorney to help us. The fees for the visa process in total are around $1700, I have no idea how much the attorney will cost us. Then we need to save up for the wedding itself and unfortunately the flight tickets aren't  cheap either.
To make things worse, my position has become uncertain with the UK leaving the European Union. I am not 100% sure how long I can stay and work here. Currently I am trying to save up as much as possible, but it's a really slow process as my salary isn't too good. I have a really small family and they can't give us any financial support. The odds are against us.

There is no real goal for this campaign. We don't even know how much it would cost us. What we know for sure is that we want to get married and live happily together, no matter how hard it will be to get there. And we deeply appreciate any help we get along the way.
I sincerely want to thank everyone who has helped us so far already. And I thank you too dear reader for taking your time and showing interest in my story. Thank you for your help and making our dreams come true.
