Virginia Riding is a club sport at UVA and students do not receive school credit for participating. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive organization and enjoy teaching riders of all levels, from beginner to advanced. The size of our club fluctuates because we do not turn anyone away.
Because we are a club, not a varsity, sport, we only receive minimal funding from the University. Therefore, we depend on the dues of our members and donations from our wonderful supporters to ensure the health, soundness, and happiness of our amazing team horses, allow us to send members to important intercollegiate riding competitions, and improve our riding through clinics and other unique training opportunities.
In order to keep the costs incurred by our members reasonable and the riding team accessible to anyone at UVA who wants to join, we have set up this page. All funds raised by the University of Virginia Riding team on this page will go directly to:
-The care and maintenance of hour team horses;
-The purchase of equipment for the protection and comfort of our horses;
-To help cover the cost of attending the ANRC Collegiate Equitation Championship, a National championship, held in April, that allows intercollegiate riding teams to showcase their most talented riders in a team competition judged and scored on equitation skills in four phases (http://anrc.org/what_is_anrc/) , a important competition for our team; and,
-To help cover the cost of a clinic for our entire team that will allow all of our riders to improve and strengthen their riding skills while experiencing the instruction of a different trainer.
For many of us, current members and alumni alike, the riding team at UVA is the best, most important, most fulfilling aspect of our college careers, and something that we are constantly working to continue and improve for those that follow us!
Any donation helps!! We truly cannot express just how much we appreciate anyone's donation to help keep our horses and riders happy, healthy, and successful. Thank you for helping make our dreams for this team a reality!
