Our company, McKenna Wolf Media, is making a short documentary film about the musician Paul Martin and his journey from being a member of the eighties band The Vipers, to his current band, and musical future.
The movie explores the theme of what happens to an iconoclastic artist who walks away from a successful career, but continues to create on his own terms.
The film will begin by recounting some of Paul's early life in Northport, Long Island, and continue through his career in The Vipers, playing rooms like the Peppermint Lounge and CBGBs. We then follow him as he works to find a new sound and a new audience, as one of the first artists to explore DIY music-making and producing, finding ways of connecting with a new generation of listeners.
Any artist who dreams of making their own way through the landscape of commercial potholes that is the music industry will find this film interesting and inspiring. And if you grew up in Northport, and/or listening to The Vipers, you really HAVE to see it.
We have budgeted $60,000 to complete the entire film, but we actually need much less to get started. We need to put together a small crew of four or five people who can film and record the new band. They are going into the studio at the end of October, so we need about $10,000 by then...WHICH IS REALLY SOON!
So if you can contribute any amount, your support will be what makes this happen!
And we're offering a few incentives, which are listed on the right. Those who donate at any of the top three levels will receive a VIP Invitation to the Premier screening, as well as the corresponding credit both in the film itself and on IMDB.
