Who am I : My name is Vincent Crosbie I am 26 years old and I was born and raised in Botswana. I have been riding in the bush and sand since the age of three. My biggest influence in my riding career has been my father, Noel. He was ultimately devoted to the sport and my true guider. Sadly my father passed away when I was young and now I have taken it upon myself to fulfil our dream of us going to the Dakar Rally.
What is the Dakar Rally?: The Dakar Rally is the most extreme off road endurance race that consists of 14 days of racing and close to 10,000 kilometers in distance. The terrain is anything from off-road tracks, dunes, rocks, and mountain passes. This race is intended to test the endurance of man and the machine to the extreme with not only the terrain but the navigation as well. Throughout the 14 days there are no GPS's allowed, all navigation is done via a road book. All of these elements make it the toughest and longest off-road event in the world. Just to be able to finish is an achievement. It will test my mind, body and soul.
What am I raising money for?: I have made it my aim to make my country proud by being the first Motswana to go to Dakar. It is a chance to represent my country, family, friends and sponsors at the highest level of motorsport in the world.
How will the money be used?: All of the funds will enable me to fly the Botswana flag high and allow me to represent my country in motorsport's most gruelling challenge. Funds will go towards the following:
-Entry Fee (14,800.00 euro)
-Flights
-Accomodation
-Rally Bike Rental
-Mechanical Maintenance
-Tyres and Mousses (10 sets of front and back)
-Rally Bike Spares
-Mechanic & Support Crew
-Racing Kit (racing jackets, pants, shirts)
-Supplements
-Sponsors Decals/Sticker Kit for Rally Bike
-Licensing & Insurances
-Navigation Equipment
All the funds are required in predetermined stages to meet organizational payment schedules.
Why this means so much to you as a supporter?: You would be a part of Botswana history in joining the first Motswana on his road to Dakar. To be able to fulfill his dream means that you will be helping represent Botswana and local businesses at the highest level in motorsport in the world. You will also personally be part of Vincent's dream of getting to an event that has become achievable.
How thankful I will be?: The level of gratitude I will have and already have for those who have helped my achieve what I have so far is immense. I will use all platforms and social media outlets to express my gratitude as I have in the past with my other races.
