On August 25, 2017; Hurricane Harvey unexpectedly made its arrival across the coast of South Texas. A Category 4 hurricane with one of the most powerful paths of destruction in Texas’ history. With such a large portion of South East Texas affected by the storm, Victoria, TX made the list as one of the cities greatly affected.
Two weeks following the devastation, and as students prepare to return to classes; picking up the pieces and resuming day to day schedules isn’t as easy as it seems. Due to flood and storm damage, some students are homeless and currently residing in shelters.
Four days Prior to Harvey, VISD-CTI Cosmetology seniors opened doors to their Senior Year and plans were made for fundraising to help meet the costs for The Armstrong McCall World Expo Hairshow in San Antonio which would take place October 1-2, 2017. With two weeks away from classes and from the program, students have been unable to raise proper funding for their trip. These funds will help pay student tickets as well as hotel accommodations for an overnight stay.
At this time, parents are unable to pay these expenses since they all currently have financial burdens and expenses due to Harvey. This Go-Fund me account was created to help assist the Senior Students of VISD-CTI Cosmetology Program. You are able to give at your hearts’ desire to the students a chance to be able to attend a hair show that will benefit their futures as working professionals in the Beauty Industry.
