VHOPE's Orphan Sponsorship Program

We have 3 orphans that are homeless and were trying to survive living on the streets in Mityana,  Uganda. Temporary homes and resources are very limited. Right now there is nothing left. We were fortunate enough to get them into boarding schools for a semester but sadly that is coming to an end. We are trying to get sponsors for them to stay in a boarding school. This provides them with a roof over their heads, 3 meals a day and a safe, warm, dry place to live and study with instructors and other students. The cost of boarding school differs depending on age and grade or school level. Ben is 15 years old. He was brought up in a little more affluent home than most of our children and was provided an education. He is very very intelligent and a high achiever with big dreams. He was just about to be promoted to a secondary school to take classes to be an engineer. When his parents were both killed in an accident, he had nowhere to go and no one to help him. He has been living on the streets working any job he can find just to get food.  His boarding school fees and engineering classes are $250 a semester.  Olivia is 15 yrs old and in 5th grade. She is an orphan and also has AIDS which was passed down from her mother. We know nothing about her father. Only that he chose not to be in her life and is nowhere to be found. After her mother passed away, the relatives (who would have been the people to help her) decided since she will die anyway,  she is not worth spending their money on. They put her on the street. She too has had to work any job she could find to try to get food. She is bright and a total sweetheart. The cost for her boarding school is $150 a semester.  Jjunju is an orphan and only 10 yrs old. He is smart, very friendly and has a funny sense of humor.  He has had to find any kind of work he could do for a few coins. Chopping wood and other odd jobs. He too barely makes enough to get something to eat if he is lucky enough to get something to eat at all. His boarding school fee is $150 a semester. We have recently been working on a placement for a 4th child. I will update when I get more detailed information. Unfortunately these boarding school fees do not include a mattress and other personal supplies. We are hoping to get other donors for those as well. At this moment we have the three kids off the street and enrolled in boarding schools thanks to a collection of donations and loans earlier this year to use as down payments and promise to pay. At the moment we are having to struggle to keep roofs over their heads during school break. Unfortunately, we are also on borrowed time. We hope to quickly get sponsors for the semesters for each of them and another child we are trying to help, and also excess donations to use  toward their mattresses etc. The most urgent matter though, is just getting or keeping them in boarding school where they are safe, off the street, sheilded from the weather, free of hunger pains and getting their education.  We are still working on a website with full details about VHOPE's current and future plans and projects.  It is not ready to launch yet, but the link is http://vhope.org/.
