Affordable Student-Veteran Housing

Donation protected

One of the greatest struggles facing our veterans today is transitioning out of the military.
One of the biggest problems in Traverse City, MI is finding housing that is even close to affordable.
I aim to help remedy both of these problems at the same time, and I need YOUR help!

Let me tell you a little about myself so you can understand why this cause is near and dear to my heart.
My name is Mike Griffith. I was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in 2012, and like many veterans, I promptly did what was 'expected' of me and started looking to attend college. But I soon found it is wasn't quite that easy...
Between the difficulties of adjusting to civilian life, finding gainful employment, and figuring out what exactly I wanted to do with this newest chapter of my life, having a little taste of the Corps I missed so dearly would have made the entire process that much easier.
Skip forward to today, and here I am; a small business owner, entrepreneur, full time student and Treasurer of the Student Veterans of America chapter of my local college. It was through this involvement in the veteran community that I came up with an idea, and that leads me back to the reason for this fundraiser.

The Barracks, as I have appropriately named this project, will offer affordable housing geared towards veterans. The location is perfect; close to the local campus and right in the heart of beautiful Traverse City. The idea is simple; by housing veterans together you recreate the single biggest thing every service member misses the most: cameraderie. The pricing is realistic: specifically designed with real people, who make real salaries, in mind.

The process, however, is where it gets tricky.
That's where you fantastic people come in.
Every penny donated goes directly towards getting The Barracks up and off the ground. More than that though, every penny donated goes to offset the cost of this project, which ultimately allows for rooms that people can actually afford. We have the support of the community. We have access to every student-veteran, past, present and future through our connection with the amazingly veteran-friendly local college. We have a team of veterans itching to get to work turning this dream into reality. All we need is your help!

$50,000 may sound like a lofty goal but I know that together, we can achieve it. Together, we can build a space designed for veterans, by veterans.
And it all starts here.
So please, give what you can, share this page, and let's work together to give back to those who signed a blank check in defense of our freedom.

Thank you for your support!
