A Purpose Bigger Than All of Us

Tax deductible
“To honor and serve those who have honored us with their service”

Why a Veterans Restorative Care Center you may ask?  . . . because 22 veterans a day commit suicide, because almost 100 veterans a day attempt suicide, because those numbers have been increasing since 9/11.  We must do something different to restore health and hope to these men and women and their families.

A crisis in care for veterans.  We must rise to meet the challenge.

Current Situation - All too often our soldiers return suffering terribly from wounds both visible and invisible. Physical injuries, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and/or traumatic brain injury (TBI) top the list. These circumstances not only extract a tremendous toll on our solders but also their families. Since 2000 over 100,000 American soldiers have committed suicide (almost twice the number killed in Vietnam). This equates to 22 suicides per day, or almost one every hour. This is not acceptable.

Our soldiers often feel like they “are told to go back to civilian life and act like it never happened.” The Veterans Administration is well intentioned, but is overwhelmed, understaffed and, thus, often ineffective. As a result, many of our veterans are over-medicated and feel under-loved, under-valued, and under-appreciated. The toll is great on our warriors and their supportive and loving families. We can and must do something about it.

“Every day of every year, year after year veterans take their own lives. Today 22 did. Yesterday 22 did. Tomorrow 22 will, unless we do something about it.”  John Bickel, US Army Lt. Col (ret), Ranger (Airborne), West Point.

We need your help!

Your financial support will allow us to purchase and establish the Veterans Restorative Care Center at Hot Lake Springs . . .

The Facility for the Veterans Restorative Care Center -  Once a medical sanatorium in the early 1900s, this unique 100,000 square foot building has been restored and is currently a resort and mineral spa, surrounded by the beautiful Blue Mountains and the healing mineral waters of Hot Lake Springs.

This property will be repurposed back to its original intent and outfitted with state-of-the-art naturopathic medical facilities to effectively aid mental and physical healing for veterans.  Most important, this will allow long term respite housing for our wounded veterans and their families.

The surrounding countryside empowers Nature’s healing through the natural landscape of forest, water, and mountains which promote health and healing.  Access to Mother Nature is abundant, it includes fly fishing, hunting, and hiking in the woods.

Importantly, the facility would also include resources to address family counseling and activities, as well as veteran education and career training. Nature’s healing through recreation activities including fly fishing, hunting and hiking.

By combining the success of three previously unrelated sources of natural healing at the Veterans Restorative Care Center:

·   Natural medicine practiced by the naturopathic doctors of the National University of Natural Medicine,

·    The Warrior Bonfire Program, that for years has taken small groups of purple heart recipients, into the outdoors where the healing power of nature and the bond of brotherhood has been used to help heal their hearts and minds.

 ·    Hot Lake Springs, a restored medical facility once considered the Mayo Clinic of the West and known as a place of healing for a millennium,

We can help veterans heal their whole person and restore the hope they have lost.

· The hope that the pain will go away
· The hope that they’re not crazy
· The hope for physical and emotional healing
· The hope for a future
