Vet Bills for Sparkplug & Lady

On December 2, two senior Portuguese pointers were picked up wandering the streets of Dutton, MT.  They were emaciated but, true to the breed, sweet and happy to be with people, especially their kind-hearted rescuer.  This person did not know the breed but was able to track down the breeder of the female in Ohio to find out not only their breed but their names.  

You see, Wingfoot Lady and Sparkplug of Royal Hunter were bounced around from kennel to kennel to be used solely as breeding dogs.  This included breeding kennels in North Dakota, Ohio, Montana, and Colorado.  The last owner dumped them at a shelter with instructions that Sparkplug should be euthanized.

Their rescuer was not financially capable of providing the immediate vet care Sparkplug and Lady needed so Jack and I stepped in on behalf of the Portuguese Pointer Club of America to help cover these costs.  The total for the first visit for the two was $776, primarily for Sparkplug, due to additional testing he required to assess his cardiac condition.  His second visit was $251, which included a month's worth of medication.

So many kind hearted people reached out immediately with offers to help as well.  I've set up this account to help defray some of this initial cost, with anything additional to go to Big Sky Animal Medical Center in Great Falls, MT as a credit towards future vet visits for these two.
