☆♡♡RESCUED MARE NAMED SWEETNIN AND HER COLT MEANNESS♡♡☆
☆☆☆WATCH CHANNEL 12 NEWS TONIGHT FOR THE STORY ☆☆☆
This go fund me page is for 2 horses that were rescued this morning near Warren Texas , from deplorable conditions that almost took their lives ..These babies have been thru hell on earth .Suffering more abuse than is imaginable . Both having a VERY STRONG WILL TO LIVE , they managed to stay alive . And by God's grace my friend SHERRY GATES who has spent just about every waking minute with them both, and has now finally been able to remove them from their hell. But their road to recovery is just beginning and it's going to be a long one , and VERY COSTLY to say the least . My friend SHERRY GATES is the person who got this whole ball rolling . She lives in Woodville Texas (Ivanhoe ) to be exact. And upon seeing these babies conditions she made it a priority to help. She has stayed by the mare's side, who since last Friday evening was downed ..unable to stand on her own . TO WEAK FROM STARVATION. Those of you in Texas know that we went below freezing last weekend ..further weakening the horse and threatening her life ...SHERRY GATES WAS THERE AND MADE SURE THE MARE SWEETNIN HAD A BLANKETS TO COVER HER AND HAY AS WELL AS A
PLASTIC SHEETING TO KEEP HER BODY HEAT IN . SHERRY HAS BOUGHT GOOD HAY FOR THE MARE TO EAT AND BOUGHT PEDIALITE FOR HER ...She was given permission yesterday by the then current owners, if that's what you want to call them, to take both the colt and the mare . After being accompanied by the sheriff's dept in Tyler County, to speak to the owners about their obvious grave condition .. so since yesterday evening we have been putting together the rescue. Since SWEETNIN was unable to load a trailor because she was to weak to stand , WE ARRANGED THRU NUMEROUS FRIENDS ON FACEBOOK TO GAVE A TRAILOR COME TO PICK HER UP ON A SHEET OF PLYWOOD SND MOVE HER TO SAFETY . Also by gods grace SHE AND THE COLT ARE NOW SAFE ..BUT THE VET BILLS WILL BE HIGH .AND WE ARE ASKING FOR HELP ..PLEASE OPEN YOUR HEARTS AND WALLETS TO HELP SWEETNIN AND MEANNESS RECOVER FROM ABUSE SO SEVERE THAT IS UNIMAGINABLE .. I am also going to embed the link to my original plea for help on facebook last nite and the pics of SWEETNIN AND MEANNESS..WARNING THEY ARE GRAPHIC ..BEYOND WORDS ..THANKS YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ALL YOUR HELP AND PLEASE KEEP THE PRAYERS GOING UP. AND GOD BLESS YOU ...
I too would like to THANK ALL OF YOU. WORDS CANNOT BEGIN TO EXPRESS MY GRATITUDE AND IT MAKES MY HEART SO WONDERFULLY HAPPY TO SEE THAT GOD IS WORKING THRU US ALL ..AND SWEETNIN'S IS DEFINATELY BENEFITTING FROM IT ALL.. STAY UP TODAY BY LIKING AND FOLLOWING THIS PAGE
.AND PLEASE CONTINUE THE PRAYERS AND DONATIONS ..
SHARE THIS TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN ...HER NEEDS ARE SO MANY ..MUCH LOVE TO YOU ALL ..AND GOD BLESS YOU
Hello to all the Folks that have been keeping up with, and a part of, Sweetnin's progress. It's finally March and warmer weather is upon us. I'm grateful for it! We've started walking her again, just a little, and it has picked her spirits up a little I think. She has put on a little weight and is a little stronger. She has the appetite of a lion! lol Once we can get pain out of the picture, hopefully we'll be over the biggest hump in her recovery. God must have given this little mare a strong mind to tolerate everything she's going through, without going crazy. Treated terribly, drug with a come-along, being down so long, then slung up like a hanging plant (necessary, but still has to be hard emotionally) and so much pain. She still likes people, God love her. I hope she maintains a good attitude when she's feeling good again. lol Her recovery wouldn't be possible without all the help y'all have provided. There is NO doubt about that. If I can ever figure out how to add pictures to this site, I'll post updated photos of her. Time to go dole out some more hay & scoop up any 'used' Nutrena. Oh boy!!! hahhahahaa Thank y'all again. Y'ALL were instrumental to her survival & recovery. Hugs, Sherry
Hi, I haven't been able to update anything because my internet got messed up and it took a while to get it working again. Several of Sweetnin's wounds are looking much better. 5 are still pretty bad and 3 are still real bad, but with bones that were exposed they'll take more time.. but they are better. Today (2/21/17) a little after 10 a.m., she got a bad case of gas colic and it got really ugly. In her fit of pain, she managed to throw the front strap off, and slid the entire sling back to her flanks. Her shoulders went to the ground, and her tail was up in the air. The real bad wound (right hip) gushed pus while I was lowering her to the ground. That part turned out to probably be the only good thing about the ordeal. My husband left work and picked up some Gas-X and I crushed it in a little water and syringed it down her. She was in horrible pain, but one of her vets gaver her a shot of stronger pain meds w/a mild sedative and she rested while the Gas-X kicked in. She got to rest for a couple of hours and when she went to sit up, we got her back up in her sling, with a couple of extra goodies to keep her from being able to slide it/throw it. She finally pooped around midnight! So she seems to be much better. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers, because she still has a long way to go. Thank all of y'all, again.
Delor, I'm overwhelmed! Thank you Tomorrow a vet is coming out to do another exam, and I'll see if she needs more antibiotics, and maybe some more pain meds. I'll let y'all know how her exam goes, and what the vet has to say. I've tried to add some updated pictures of her in her sling, but can't get it to work. The sling, however, is working great! It even allows her to move & turn a little if she wants. Again, I thank y'all for the help to make sure she gets what she needs to heal & enjoy life. God Bless each and every one of y'all.
Hi Everyone, I'm sorry I haven't updated Sweetnin's condition in a long time. She was up for 5 days (after being down for 5 1/2 days), then she laid down on Jan 20th and was down until today (Jan 30th, 2017).. 11 days. We had tried several times to get her up, but she couldn't do it. We built this sling/gurney and my Husband & Brother put up the structure around her to lift her with. We had to roll her to get her in position to be lifted. Once up, she kept sliding her feet deep under her and we'd move them back out closer to where they should be. It took a little over an hour for her feet & legs to fully wake up where she could put some weight on them. Most of her weight is supported on the canvas & straps. She is in incredible pain and the vet's coming back out Thursday. She has some pain meds & is almost done with this round of antibiotics. I imagine she may have another round coming. Her appetite is good, now it's wound management. They're severe on both sides.. hips, shoulders & 1 knee are the worst. Keep praying for Sweetnin, IT'S HELPING!!! : ) I thank every one of y'all with all my heart! Sherry
Good morning, everyone. Just want to let y'all know how Sweetnin's doing today. Several of her wounds are draining, which, at least brought some of the swelling down and she's walking with a little less pain. She's getting her antibiotics, and should get the blood test results by Friday. The vet showed me something that explains something I've been wondering about. When she had her colt (about 8 or 9 months ago), she apparently had a pretty bad tear, which had to be sewn up. I'd noticed that she tinkles a bit differently. Whoever stitched her tear, almost sewed her shut! But she does go potty (1 & 2) regularly, but good grief! The Vet said she's 4 1/2 yrs old, and shouldn't have been bred/shouldn't be in the future. I never considered for a moment that she'd be bred again in the future. If she were the best foal-making brood mare in the world, she'd never be allowed to breed again. If she isn't sound, after recovering from her wounds & starving nearly to death, she will live her life out as our biggest dog. : ) lol She still has a long way to go, but regardless of any opinions, I will not stop working/fighting to get this little lady back to the best she can be. As long as she's happy & not in pain, she will (God willing) live her life out with lots of love. It is amazing what she knows & what she doesn't know. It took 2 days to show her that she can pick up things off the ground and eat them. (soaked alfalfa cube-lets) It's like didn't know how to graze.. even grass at first. She's learning that fast, though! hahhaha I'd like to ask everyone that sees this page to send up Prayers for her to get through these infected wounds and continue with positive progress. Thank everyone, again, for your best wishes & all the help she/we received getting her to the point she's at. She's quite a gal. God Bless Sherry
Hi & Thank You, & God Bless to everyone who has pitched in with so much help! ...and efficiency!! Thank you & God Bless to everyone who has helped with money & their prayers. I genuinely believe all the prayers that were sent up for her recovery, against ALL odds, even impressed God and he granted us her life. She's eating like a little pig and I couldn't be more pleased with her progress. She's still very sore and the wounds that cover her from her head to her tail and up & down are sore and she doesn't really enjoy her walks too much, except when we're heading back. LOL Tomorrow I"m going to make an appointment for a vet to come give her a going over and imagine she'll need antibiotics at the least. Then I can report what he has to say to all of y'all. She's a little bit of 'America's Horse', now. There is NO WAY on this Earth I could have done this by myself, and I am grateful beyond words. I am superlatively humbled, and that still seems inadequate to how I feel about the last 2 weeks' events. I am sorry I haven't gotten this out to y'all sooner. I'm finally starting to relax in the comfort that she IS going to live!! I feel like I took a beating with a Happy Stick. Again, I thank every single one of y'all for everything you've done for that Sweet, Sweet mare. She's been through a lot in her 4 - 5 year life, but she will never, ever face that again. Never. Hey Rita...it was my pleasure helping with this horrible situation. Lisa called me and told me about the horse and that it was down and could not get up. I ask her how long the horse had being down, she said 5 or 6 days. Having messed with horses growing up I felt heart broken and told her I would be glad to help. It was late when Lisa called me that night so I told her that I would pick her up the next morning and we would go check the horse out. Low and behold... when we got to the location it turns out that I knew Sherry( who rescued the horses) from giving her horse riding lessons as a kid. It was team work getting the horse up and walking. We took it slow and easy getting the horse up not to scare her... and the results turned out good. God bless to everyone involved and for all of the nice comments. I feel positive that the mare will live a much better life from here on out. Rita setting up this go-fund-me account is a great thing and the ticket for the horses recovery.
I'll do my best to update 3 to 4 times a day until there's a lot better prognosis and obvious steady improvement
