Vet Bill Help

Donation protected

Hi my name is Shaughn Martel I'm struggling with my cat's vet bills.

After coming home to 3 fizzy liquid puddles I brought him to our vet the next day to find out that my cat's liver was not doing well.

After a check up I was told that he had lost 40% of his body weight and was jaudiced. He was given a 50% chance of surviving as his liver was failing and he needed to be hospitalized immediately. I was panicking . The tests and meds alone racked over 1500$. I didn't know what to do. Quinn deserved a chance at life that I could not give him.

I was worried that I'd either have to surrender my best furr buddy in order to get his vet bills payed. In return he would have to be put up for adoption.  I was ready to make the hardests decision of my life in order for him to have a chance at getting better. Weather he pulled through and got better and adopted or was put down was information I wasn't alowed to have. That ate me up inside.

Jess (my partner) suggested getting a second oppinion after talking to a friend of her's who's cat had recovered from something similar. So we left for a 24hour emergency clinic across town. We payed for a second check up with money I had to pay back and was given an estimate  of over 2000$.

No matter which denomination I decided. The amount needed to be payed the day of. My partner had mentioned having a benifit show to pay for veterenary bills, but there was no way to get everything ready in time.

When asked, both locations had not given me any options of a way to pay for him to have tests done and meds that I could administer to him at home. I was hopeless and devastated. Imade the call to the Toronto Humane Society about surrendering him. Quinn deserved a fighting chance, When I called I was told that they were full and could not accomidate my best friend.

This was the lowest blow. I was spiraling downward without much hope. I was worried that he would have to stay with me while he was dying and I unable to take care of him effectively. We decided to go home after the second vet had given us some appetite stimulants to get him eating again.

Jess asked a good friend who used to work at a vet that had experience with getting her cats treatment to come over and talk with me. When she came over she had already made calls to my vet and let me know of a credit type medical card that I could set up for bills.

After having my appendix removed before the summer I was already maxed out on my own credit not being able to work and still haven't bounced back. I was just able to get approved for the amount for the vet bills, but I'm seriously at a loss for how i'm supposed to recover financially. It's taking a large toll on my mental health.

Times have been looking up giving Quinn his meds and fluids. I'll soon by taking him for a check up to see how long the road to full recovery will be

This time next year I will be applying to go to post secondary school.  By the end I hope to start a career so I can be properly ready for things like this to happen. Helping friends in need should not come at the cost of destablizing your life.

If this campaign is successful I can get back to studying and practicicing as hard as I can to make it into school.
Hope that you could find it in your heart and donate
It's been difficult to build up the courage to set this up.  I'm terrible at asking for help, but would really apreciate some right now.

As terrified as I was I'm glad that I went through all this for Quinn. If any other option would have been possible I would have hated myself for taking it.  This way I get to continue to take care of one of my best friends.

Thank you for your time
