Step Up for Shaika

Anyone that knows or has ever met our beautiful friend Shaika Ocampo has been warmed by her smile and her spirit. She is a true presence, and her enthusiasm for life is contagious. If you are lucky enough to call her a friend, then she has undoubtedly made your world brighter. But, now Shaika and her family need us. After being diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 32 in September of 2015, Shaika, a Chicago police officer assigned to the 007th District in Englewood, has battled like only she can—with wigs of all styles and colors, costumes, and of course a hashtag of her very own #IamShaika   Her enduring faith and positivity has astounded and inspired us all. We were heartbroken to learn that Shaika recently received the devastating news that her cancer had once again returned and was spreading aggressively. She and her family have made the agonizing decision to not seek further treatment, and instead focus on her palliative care. Almost 3 years of multiple surgeries and treatments have exhausted Shaika’s allowed medical time off, and has meant thousands of dollars in bills, which continue to come in.  Any amount you can contribute is deeply appreciated by her & her entire family.
