Ventura Fire - Vasquez Family

Please join us in helping Robert and Brandy Vasquez and their two little boys. Their life has been destroyed by the still ongoing Ventura fires.
We met and spent some time with Robert and Brandy inside the Red Cross emergency shelter in Ventura. Robert Is a union construction worker and because of the fires there is currently no work for him, and there is not expected to be work this month. Brandy is currently a stay at home mom to their 2 little boys, ages 6 and 8. The youngest son has a lung condition and suppressed immune system due to being born very premature. Because of this disaster, the Vasquez family has essentially been made both homeless and unemployed.
The home they rent did not burn but may have water and smoke damage, and they are unsure if it will be habitable, nor do they know the condition of their belongings . It is still an evacuation zone and it is not known when they will be allowed to go back and assess the situation .
We went to the shelter to help out and were able to see the appalling conditions for ourselves. The situation inside this shelter was an inappropriate and dangerous place for a family with young children for reasons you might imagine, especially one with pre-existing health problems.
Many people displaced by the fire are in hotels or staying with friends and family. Brandy and Robert cannot afford to stay in a hotel and didn’t have anywhere else to go besides the shelter. They have no insurance, no cash reserves and they rent their home.
100% of these funds are to provide the Vasquez family lodging through the evacuation, food and basic needs through the month of December, as well extra cash so they can provide a comfortable and fun Christmas with their little boys.
