Heidi helping others

Many of you may not know, but on Friday, May 3rd, Heidi did one of the most selfless things one human being can do for another by donating a kidney to a complete stranger who had been on dialysis for the past 5 years. 

I met Heidi close to 7 years ago when I started working at a daycare where she also worked. I quickly learned that she loves much and gives more. I witnessed that daily as she gave of herself to the kids that surrounded her and the friends and family near her. So her telling me a few months back that she finally matched to be an organ donor and was giving away a kidney did not surprise me in the least. This is a woman who was a foster parent, has taken in 4 stray and suffering cats, and prays daily for the needs of others and not herself. 

Dennis McCarthy is the man who is the recipient of her life saving generosity and in his own words “an angel by the name of Heidi came to my calling and is donating a kidney to me. Having a gift like this is more than anyone can ask for.”

This loving, generous woman would never ask for help so we’re asking for her - she will be off work to recover for an entire month. The surgery to give the kidney is more invasive and involved than the surgery to receive the kidney. This is why she won’t be working the month of May. I know she will be terribly missed by all the kids and families at the daycare and in return we can now show her just how important she is to all of us. 

I invite each each one of you reading who has been touched by this amazing woman, I’m blessed to call my best friend, to give back to her in return.  She won’t be working and therefore won’t be getting paid but will still have bills and expenses to cover.  We thank you in advance for your giving. As we know Dennis is thanking God for bringing Heidi into his life at just the right time.
