Help Vee’s Phase 2 palate treatment

Donation protected
My daughter was born with a congenital defect in her palate. She had difficulty breathing from the start, which was quite frightening! This may be developmental, or may have been a result of her very difficult birth. Her palate is super high and narrow, which crowds her sinuses and nasal passages. She is a mouth breather because she can’t get enough air through her nose. Beginning at age 6, she started the first wave of treatment to widen her palate during a major growth spurt.  This helped release her sinuses, allow her jaw to grow, and opened her airways. That first wave cost between $8k and $10k, some of which was covered by insurance. She also had a speech therapist and an occupational therapist to work on tongue thrust, chewing, and speech in addition.  We are now in phase two, which includes braces to pull down teeth that came in like a shark, widen the upper jaw and palate, bring the lower jaw forward, and align her teeth and jaw. She may also have to have oral surgery.  We have to do this during puberty else her jaw will be recessed and her nose elongated, permanently altering her facial features.  She will develop TMJ and severe facial pain. So we're doing it!

Vee is a spirited child and she has endured the years of work positively. We reached the lifetime maximum orthodontia insurance coverage a long, long time ago, and we have a few years left at this. I know it is worth it. I want her to be pain-free and to breathe properly and be healthy.

I'm a single mom and entrepreneur. I've started delivering groceries for Instacart in my 'spare' time to try to cover the monthly payment to the orthodontist. That is helping! It also means I’m not around for Vee as much as I like.

My birthday is November 6.  If you were thinking of sending me a token for my 49th cycle around the sun on or about November 6, I'd like to ask you to send it to Vee instead. She's gonna be going through phases in this stage of dental and medical work for the next three years. It's costly, but worth it. It will be a gift to me and to her. I  can be here with her helping with homework and middle-school troubles, instead of extra shifts delivering groceries. I'll be able to breathe easier myself knowing the bills are paid. And Vee will get the treatment she needs to breathe and chew properly and prevent a lifetime of breathing problems and pain. Thanks for your consideration and support.
