Save our 90 year old student paper

$1,000 of $50,000 goal

Raised by 27 people in 29 months
After 9 decades of student reporting The Siskiyou, Voice of SOU Students may soon be silenced. Southern Oregon University is supportive and will offer space, computers and assistance but can no longer afford to offer it as a class.

Our readership has never been higher. If you help our dynamic, emerging journalists, you're giving to a highly functioning organization. 1,000 people giving 50 dollars shows Southern Oregon University students that we care about them and their voice.

We have 926 dollars. Who can push us over the 1 thousand dollar mark in the next 24 hours? The students will be asking for student fees but they cannot be funded until next spring at the earliest. It's a process thing. They need fall and winter term covered. 5 thousand dollars can get them there--we're a quarter of the way right now! Don't let these students down. Don't let journalism down. Every student who works on the paper has pulled their own limited resources to donate--please join them. Stand for the The Siskiyou, Voice of SOU Students. Thank you!

Thank you all so much for your support. Every dollar goes to help this paper hang on until a permanent solution can be found. The students are exploring applying to become a club and funded by student fees but due to application deadlines that money does not come through until next spring. Without a class or credits and no way to offer a small stipend to an editor and support freelance writers with a modest payment, it's likely participation will end. Those who have donated are truly making a difference. Thank you! Sincerely, Students of The Siskiyou

Thank you for your generous donations!
We are now at 661 dollars. We've been asked what the money is for. Good question. It is to pay a small stipend of roughly $500.00 per month to a student editor to keep the paper on track. It is to pay roughly $35.00 to $50.00 for free-lance articles by and for students to encourage engagement and it is to create a print edition to encourage advertisers so the paper can become self sustaining. This paper is on the chopping block. Without your immediate help, by the end of May, this newspaper goes dark. If there are any further questions--Please ask. This money is for students only. No admin, no instructors.

We're at 400 dollars. Thank you thank you to all those who shared their money and their hearts to #savethesiskiyou. The University says it's about low enrollment in the class causing the end of a 90 year tradition. but in truth some 500 people read these newspaper at any given time..twenty students produce it. Newspapers are about readers and reporters. Based on that standing The Siskiyou is a thriving and robust news source. Thanks to all who understand and care. Your help is so appreciated. Don't let the Voice of SOU Students fall silent,.
