New Vision Foundation was founded to target major investments in youth in the developing world, creating opportunities that divert vulnerable minds from disconnection and radicalization.
By connecting marginalized youth to the greater world through digital literacy, we are engaging and inspiring them to be productive global citizens.
Our effort is targeting disadvantaged youth 13-18 years old. A pilot program is underway to create 10 training centers in 10 extremely low-income communities in Kenya. Each class has 20 students and costs $6,000 per year. Each student will receive a laptop and will be trained in web navigation, office productivity tools, coding, graphics, as well as entrepreneurship and global citizenship. They will be connected with their peers in the US as ePals to share their experiences and aspirations.
New Vision Foundation will partner with public universities in Kenya to allow our students to sit in classes and have mentors to encourage them to aim for higher education. And our final piece of the puzzle is coordinating with local and international corporations in Kenya to engage our students in their offices as interns.
