Vanja is 14. Just turned 14. And already has to face the most difficult battle in human's life. Vanja is fighting cancer - the one of the most agressive it's forms, Burkitt lymphoma.
It comes suddenly. Yesterday he was healthy boy with dreams and hopes and today nothing of this dreams and hopes has left. On 22th of December 2016 Vanja felt bad, started vomiting , complained of intense pain in stomach. He was delivered to the hospital and immediately headed to the surgery, as doctors suspected peritonitis. But... what they saw, was much much worse. Huge tumor. That huge, that it was not possible to remove it surgically. 24 stitches, stoma and lots of pain - this is what Vanja, 14 years old boy, is living with right now.
And as if it wasn't enough, another bad news reached the family: there is no possibility to treat Vanja's cancer in his country. There is no expirience, no success stories, no specialists. The only way for Vanja to survive is to move to another country to get his treatment there.
We, friends of Vanja's family, were shocked and devastatated. We didn't know what to do, we lost hope, we were heart-broken.
But Vanja kept smiling. Through the pain, through the fever, through chemo - he kept smiling. And telling his mother that everything will be ok. He can't let his mom down, he is the oldest son in their big family, he is a rock, he is hope.
This 14 years old boy taught us to never give up. Never loose hope. Keep fighting. Keep smiling.
We're setting up this GoFundMe to help Vanja's family pay all the medical bills and expences. We have no time left, every day is driving our boy in the very wrong direction.
