Vangie’s funeral expenses

Donation protected

May 30th 2019-
As you know someone vandalized my moms vehicle outside my parents home and busted out her back window and 3 side windows. Unfortunately, at the time, they carried only liability due to financial strain of living on social security disability. Thanks to my Aunt Larenda and cousin Kenny, we were able to get the windows for a cheap and Kenny has offered to install them at his expense. The total cost of the glass is $580, and will be installed today or tomorrow. If anyone would like to help me pay for the glass, I would be greatly appreciated.

Vangie passed away April 27th at 300am, surrounded by her loved ones. There are no words to express the depth of loss her passing is to our family. If you would like to help with her final expenses, please donate here or join us for a car wash planned for an upcoming weekend.

Vangie was admitted to Boswell on March 23rd with stroke like symptoms. We were told her liver had failed and as a result, shut down her kidneys. The official diagnosis is Hepatorenal syndrome, and the prognosis is not good. She is now on dialysis 3 times a week, and are planning to go to rehab. She was denied  a liver transplant due to her overall condition.
When she was first admitted, she was confused, unable to communicate, and she was very close to death. I stayed every day at the hospital, 12-16 hours a day, and I kept on bugging the doctors about other interventions.
I didn’t give up, and I called to speak to St. Joes. They told me that my mom was an invalid, unable to walk at home, was in respiratory distress and her heart wouldn’t handle the transplant. So I explained to her Liver doctor on the phone that this was untrue.
She ordered an echo, and showed her heart ejection fraction and cardiac output was just fine. Her pulmonologist said her lungs are clear, she has been off her oxygen for about 3 weeks with no intolerance what so ever.
Her kidney doctor said that her kidneys aren’t damaged, just the liver is suffocating them due to the hepatorenal syndrome and aren’t able to work.
The hospitalist was very motivated by her improved state and he called several surgeons.
We had a battle with a septic infection, she was on IV antibiotics for a few weeks, and has since resolved. We faced many little battles with blood count, electrolytes, infection and skin breakdowns. But here she is, almost a month later, feeling much better, ready to fight.
Our goal is to work with therapy, lose more weight and be re-evaluationed for a liver transplant. If we are not able to get a liver, her time with us is limited and she will not recover.

Vangie is on disability, and we have applied for ALTCS to help, but we anticipate 45-90 day wait. We are looking for a little help to get her and my dad through this transitional time as they do not have any savings or other income.

Dad fell on 4-17 and broke his left wrist and his pelvis. He is not able to move around, and is in a lot of pain.

Vangie has spent her life working to help improve the quality of life for all of the people she has cared for in her professional life, and we have a large enough circle to help.

Any little bit helps, God Bless
