For ten years, I have worked on a novel that would tell the story of a sixteen year old rape victim. Through editing and revisions, the story finally came to an end and a life. Now, I need help selling it.
Marketing is exceptionally expensive, and I am simply a small town girl with big dreams. I am a student, an author, a teacher, and an insurance agent. Still I have no money to invest into selling my book.
I know there are other more worthy causes that you could support. I completely understand if you choose them over my campaign, but I believe in Hayden's story. I want to get it out there and to share it with the world. To do that, I need to have money to invest in reaching new people. You don't realize how expensive it is to market your book until you begin searching. One really good book review can cost anywhere from $65 - $800. Book reviews can make or break your book. They are so important. Then, you factor in advertising on Facebook, Google, and Amazon with minimum requirements starting at $100.

Book Review Tour - $500
Professional Book Review - $500
Social Media Advertising (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) - $500
Amazon Advertising - $500
Creation and Mailing of LA Davis Books Brochure/Pamphlet - $250
Turn Website into an Online Store - $250
Giveaways and Other Book Promotions (Blog Reviews, Giveaways, etc.) - $200
Additional funds will be split among the various aspects of our Marketing Campaign.
Publishing Facing the Unexpected has been my dream for years, and I finally did it. Now is crunch time. People need to hear this story. It is an inspiring and beautiful tale of a survivor fighting to change the way society sees rape victims.
It would mean so much to me for those of the GoFundMe community, my friends, and my family if they invested a little bit of money into my book. I know it seems crazy that I am asking, but money is the only way to get this story out there. I appreciate any and all help from everyone involved. I want you to know that I have big plans for Hayden, and she has big plans for change.
Here's a short introduction to Hayden's story:
One date. One night. That’s all it took to change Hayden’s life. She never imagined this is where she would end up – on a lonely dirt road. Yet, this is her reality. Everyone blames her. They tell her she should have known better. She shouldn’t have been such a dirty whore or worn a short skirt. She tempted him. She made him want her. She’s only sixteen. She’s barely old enough to drive, and she should have known that an eighteen year old boy could be capable of something like this.
But when she meets Derek and Laney, twin siblings, she finds that maybe “they” had been wrong and maybe she was wrong in believing them. She finds hope in her friendship with Laney. She finds kindness and love in the arms of Derek. She is reminded that not everyone is the same. That sometimes there is light and goodness that comes from the darkness and the pain.
The idea of fighting back is terrifying, but what if she wins? What if she can keep the change moving forward? What is it they always say? We can’t change our past. We don’t know our future. We can start a domino effect when we face the unexpected.
