Hello Everyone
My name is Leonardo Biscaia and I am a C-6 quadriplegic. I was paralyzed in 2005 during a tragic swimming pool accident. I had to be airlifted to a emergency trauma center, while fireworks lit the night sky. I underwent an 8 hour surgery to repair the damage done to my spinal cord, unfortunately the Dr.s told me that I would never walk again. Depression really sunk in during those times. I was given a chance of hope when during my stay at a rehabilitation center I was introduced to the movie Murderball. It was about a sport called Quad Rugby that guys in wheelchairs with the similar injuries as myself could play. It's full contact hard hitting and fast. The chairs are specially made to your size and ability, and are very expensive, along the lines of $6000. With the help of the Challenged Athlete Fund I am close to getting one but I'm still short. This fundraiser will help me get into a brand new chair made to fit me perfectly. The fundraiser will also help support my team EWAF NY Warriors. This helps with our travel and equipment expenses. In order for us to travel to different tournments across the US we have to raise about $20,000. With the help of family and friends I have been able to overcome many obstacles that fell into my path, but Sports has played a major role in my rehabilitation. I love this sport so much because it has made me strong physically and mentally. I got to meet other survivors who pushed me into becoming a better person. Please help out any way you can, either by donation, or sharing my story to spread awareness. Thank You for your time.
