Let's end malaria in our lifetime.
Two of my friends died from malaria.
They were only 25 years old.
In 2016 malaria claimed 445,000 lives, and it accounts for half of missed days in African schools.
I am raising money to help fund research to end malaria.

I spent 5 years living in West Africa, and malaria has made my friends and family members miss countless days of school and work. Several people I know have died. They were mothers, brothers, sons, daughters, and my friends.
Please join me in raising money to end to malaria. I am supporting funding for clinical research to accelerate the development of new or improved drugs and vaccines against infectious diseases like malaria in sub-saharan Africa. I am making a gift to PATH's Malaria Vaccine Initiative, linked below.
PATH's initiatives include:
* Establishing partnerships to manufacture and produce malaria vaccine candidates.
* Evaluating and managing intellectual property issues to overcome or avoid commercial barriers to vaccine development.
* Developing clinical trial sites and conducting malaria vaccine clinical trials.
* Developing and refining vaccine evaluation technologies.
* Advocating around the need for malaria vaccines and around the need to increase global spending for malaria research and development.

75% of the funds raised will be donated to PATH's malaria vaccine initiative.
The other 25% will be contributed to The Ryan Andrews Newton '08 Global Service Award Fund, a fund started to honor my friend who died from malaria by supporting like minded students and non-profit organizations.
