UNE CHAMBRE HYPERBARE POUR ALEXIA-ROSE


Il y  a 21 mois venait au monde notre charmante petite Alexia-Rose, la grossesse de maman et son accouchement se sont déroules sans problèmes mais, un mois après sa naissance, nous avons noté qu’elle avait des spasmes infantiles à répétition, un tonus très spastique et qu’elle ne pouvait pas se mouvoir comme tous les bébés.

Après une semaine d’hospitalisation on lui diagnostiqua une Encéphalopathie épileptogene  ce qui veut dire une paralysie cérébrale associée à une hypotonie du tronc et hypertonie sévère des quatre membres, ce qui fut accueilli comme un tsunami pour notre petite famille.

Pour surmonter son handicap et son retard, elle se bat de toutes ses forces tous les jours.

Elle est suivie et aidée par une superbe équipe de spécialistes tant au CHU de Ste-Justine qu’au centre de réadaptation de Montérégie ou elle a ses suivis en neurologie, pédiatrie, physiatrie, gastroentérologie, ophtalmologie, ergothérapie, physiothérapie et dysphagie, afin de l’aider à avoir une meilleure qualité de vie. Elle va toutes les semaines au centre de réadaptation et se donne à fonds durant ses séances comme elle le fait à la maison avec nous.

Pour le moment elle est totalement dépendante de nous et de sa grande sœur qui a hâte de la voir jouer avec elle, en effet, elle ne tient pas encore sa tête, elle ne  peut pas s’asseoir, ni même se retourner toute seule.

Récemment nous avons appris l’existence des traitements en chambre Hyperbare qui peuvent apporter jusqu’à 80% d’améliorations pour les patients atteints de paralysie cérébrale. Nous avons rencontré le docteur Marois, qui est le spécialiste de renommée mondiale en matière de chambre hyperbare et qui désormais la suit. Il nous recommande  vivement de lui faire commencer un traitement afin de mettre toutes les chances de son côté.

Nous en appelons donc à toutes les personnes de bonne volonté pour nous aider à réunir la somme nécessaire afin de s’en procurer une car, pour le moment, il n’y a que deux hôpitaux qui offrent les soins en chambre hyperbare aux Québec  pour des traitements autres que la paralysie cérébrale et cette dernière n’est pas prise en charge par la Régie de l’Assurance Maladie du Québec.

 A HYPERBARE ROOM FOR ALEXIA-ROSE


21 months ago our lovely little Alexia-Rose was born, mother's pregnancy and her delivery went on without a hitch, but one month after her birth we noticed that she had recurrent infantile spasms, very spastic and she could not move like all babies.

After a week of hospitalization, she was diagnosed with epileptogenic encephalopathy, which means cerebral palsy associated with trunk hypotonia and severe hypertonia of the four limbs, a diagnostic which was welcomed as a tsunami for our little family.

To overcome her handicap and her delay, she fights with all her strength every day.

She is followed and assisted by a superb team of specialists both at the Ste-Justine UHC and the Montérégie Rehabilitation Center, in neurology, pediatrics, physiatry, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy and dysphagia, in order to help her have a better quality of life. She goes to the rehabilitation center every week and gives the best of herself during her sessions, just as she does at home.

For the moment she is totally dependent on us and her elder sister who can not wait to see her play with her, because she does not hold her head yet, she can not sit down, or even turn around herself.

Recently, we learned about the existence of hyperbaric chamber treatments that can provide up to 80% improvements for patients with cerebral palsy. We met Dr. Marois, who is the world-renowned hyperbaric chamber specialist who now follows her. He urges Alexia-Rose to start a treatment for her to make the most of her chances.

We therefore call on all people of good will to help us raise the necessary amount to obtain one because, for the moment, there are only two hospitals that offer hyperbaric chamber care in Quebec for treatment other than cerebral palsy and the latter is not covered by the Régie de l'Assurance Maladie du Québec.
