The Mālama Global Health Fund (MGHF) is an organization dedicated to providing comprehensive dermatologic care in Kenya, Ethiopia and Ghana. Our organization has previous partnered with the Clinton Global Initiative in 2005 to provide HIV medication to two hospitals in Kenya and we have been actively involved since the inception of a Comprehensive Care Centre (CCC) in Nakuru, Kenya to care for patients with HIV.
Now numbering more than 24,000, in addition to highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), we would like to provide substamtially improved nutrional support to these patients in the form of fresh produce raised in a nearby farm, a critical element in the fight against HIV along with HAART. Your donations will immediately be used to buy a 3 to 5 acre parcel of land in Nakuru, Kenya and start a professionally run farm to grow this produce. As we anticpate that there will be more produce grown than will be needed by the CCC, we will sell the excess in the local produce markets in Nakuru, generating additional revenue that can be used to care for our patients.
As a strong kickoff to this fund raising effort, the Mālama Global Health Fund will be climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, the highest peak in Africa, from December 29-January 3, 2016 to raise awareness for starting the farm, as well as the great work of the CCC and of other compassionate organizations dedicated to ending the scourage of HIV globally.
