Uzazi Village- Raise the Rent

Uzazi Village is moving!  After two years of looking, we have found the perfect location to relocate and expand our base of operations.  Uzazi Village has the mission of advancing perinatal and social equity through our community-based education and programing for childbearing families, healthcare providers and candidates of color entering the perinatal fields.  We celebrate and honor our historical and ancestral traditions for pregnancy, birth and parenting in order to improve outcomes for those communities bearing the burden of those disparities.  Our programs include "The Chocolate Milk Cafe" a support group for breastfeeding families, "The Sister Doula Program" that provides community health workers to pregnant individuals using Medicaid, and our "Lactation Consultant Mentorship Program" that provides mentorship to candidates seeking to become International Board Certified Lactation Consultants.   All donations collected in this campaign will be used to pay the rent for the first six months in our new location, so that our staff can focus on continuing our great programming.  We are helping women deliver healthier babies, and assisting people of color diversify maternity healthcare as providers of healthcare.  We want to see a world where women of color aren't four times as likely to die during the childbearing year or where Black babies are twice as likely to die before their first birthday.  Please help us to meet our goal of raising six months worth of rent at our new location by the time we move in on May 1, 2017.  Find out more about our nonprofit 501c3 organization on our website at www.uzazivillage.org.
