Get USF Racing to Competition!

USF Racing is the Society of Automotive Engineers at the University of South Florida. We are a group of multidisciplinary students who collectively design, fabricate, test, and race open-wheeled race cars. Since 1999 we have competed in the Baja and Formula SAE® series from SAE International. In the summer of 2015, we will be traveling to Formula SAE® Michigan at the Michigan International Speedway and Formula SAE® Lincoln in Lincoln, NE.
In 2005, a team sponsor generously donated a school bus to our team for use as transportation to and from competitions. We spent weeks converting the bus, Skoolie, into an RV with bunk beds, a kitchen, and desks to work at. We even had it painted so we could showcase our team and our school to everyone we saw on the road. Skoolie's traveled with us from California to Montreal and everywhere in between. Skoolie has been to the Grand Canyon, seen Niagara Falls, and crossed the Mississippi River more times than we can count.
We're very sad to announce that this flagship of USF Racing's competition history may be retiring. Skoolie has been removed from our university's insurance policy. We have been unable to find the insurance coverage needed to keep Skoolie while staying within our limited budget.
We have investigated the costs of getting our race car and our team to our competitions this season. Our funds still fall short. Without Skoolie, we must now rent a hauling vehicle to tow our trailer with our race car and supplies, rent vans to get our teammates to these competitions, and find hotels near the competition sites. Our univeristy-allotted travel funds are more than $6,000 short of what we need to get to our races.
