Denver, Colorado - Regional Development Camp 5-27/28-17 #862 made it!!! 6'2"... tall guy!
Tyris (l), & big bro. Omar, his biggest motivator. He learned from him!
My name is Bernie Tyler, I am the mother and biggest supporter of the following young man:
Tyris Rasheed Newton, a sophomore, has excelled at football at Shiprock High School, a small reservation school on the Navajo Nation. For a 15 year-old who never played organized football prior to this, he earned All-State honors and also Receiver of the Year this past season. In April, he started receiving various invitations for football and ROTC.
Tyris, who is an important member of his JROTC team, helped lead them to a State Championship.  His Senior Drill Instructor picked him to attend a leadership camp next week from June 25th-July 1st in Missouri. This camp is for top cadets in the area.
DownUnder for football has invited him to Australia in July. Then of course the National team sent us their invite. He was selected to try out for the US National Football Team in Denver, Colorado May 27-28th. We attended the  Development Camp and at the end, we were told to wait to be notified for selection. (Some prominent players in the NFL have played for the US Football team so just trying out was very exciting for us.) Last week, we were notified that Tyris made the cut and he was moving on, now to a smaller pool of players and limited locations.
We will be traveling to Carrollton, Georgia July 7-9th so he can attend the next round which is the US National  Team Player Academy. This tryout puts him one step closer to being on the US National Team, representing USA Football and you can guarantee he's very anxious to do this.
Tyris is a young man who wants to play professional sports one day and is making this possible by trying his best, academically and athletically.  It's a big deal for our family that Tyris is experiencing this level of play at his age. He enjoys representing his school, the Navajo Nation and the State of New Mexico!
Being a single parent has its challenges. Therefore getting to Georgia won't be easy; we kindly ask that you make Tyris' dreams come true by donating whatever amount to his account. We appreciate the kind gesture. The money raised will be used for fees for the camp, hotel accommodations and any out-of-pocket expenses.
Tyris is a great ambassador for young children who have hopes of competing at the National level.  It is this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that convinces me if Tyris can do it, anyone can! THANK YOU!
