US Citizenship For Hero Family

Donation protected
In 2009, I did my second year long tour in Iraq.  This is where I met Shaq.  Shaq was an interpreter for my infantry unit and was an outstanding addition to our team.  As a result of his assistance to the US, the Jaysh Al-Mahdi Militia(Now ISIS) began to hunt him and his family.  Soon after, the US began withdrawing troops, and Shaq was laid off from his service to the US.  For a few years, Shaq was virtually homeless and unemployed as he moved and hid in the Baghdad area.  Back in the US, I worked to obtain him refugee status in the US.  And for three years he was vetted and interrogated by US officials trying to find anything bad in his past or determine if he might be a problem in the future.  During this time, he was continually on the run from the militia and his family stayed away from him to avoid being identified and put in danger by their association.

In 2012, our efforts finally panned out, and Shaq was granted a Visa to stay in the US with his family as permanent residents.  Due to his status as a resident (not a citizen) he has been unable to get any reasonable employment.  His wife and kids have worked medial jobs to help him pay the bills and keep the family afloat.  Finally, it is time for the family to become citizens but the cost of $4,350.00 for the six family members to take the tests and process the applications is too much to put out and continue paying the regular bills.

Knowing that the political climate has drawn a line through the immigration issue, I ask you to please help this man and his family who have given up their home country to help ours.  Shaq's efforts undoubtedly saved American lives and maybe my own.  While I fall on the cautious side of the immigration issue, I and the government have done our due diligence on this man and his family, so please help us to bring him into the fold and provide him and his family with the opportunities that we as Americans enjoy so freely.

Thank you,
Mike Clark

I plan to give him the funds raised in the form of six checks to cover each individual's fees separately.
