URGENT MEDICAL HELP FOR PUFF

Donation protected
8/5/18  This story is lengthy but we must come together to get Justice for Puff.  This poor dog was "found as a stray" in Manhattan.  He was supposedly found and was with his finders for 5 days then they decided to dump him at a high kill shelter, Manhattan, NY ACC.  As seen in his picture you can tell puff does not look well.  We knew he was matted and needed rescue especially when he was put on the euthanasia list for no reason.  We inquired to New Hope Partners, who help place animals out of ACC, and we were given his medical records (see attached). We saw the notes on his dental disease and the severe matting but nothing else was written about his health.  So that this point, a dental and a grooming would not bankrupt the rescue so we pulled him and he is with his wonderful foster in Valatie, NY. When Puff arrived on 8/4/18 he was not able to walk.  Our foster was extremely concerned so she carried him inside and sat with him for a while.  She noticed that his back legs were so matted that he couldn't move them.  He also has the inability to use his right front leg which neither of these things were noted by ACC vet on his records. After our foster started grooming him she realized he was infested with fleas (again not noted) and found that his right from paw is literally smashed and just hanging.  Grooming this little boy took 4 hours.  His nails were so long and embedded in his pads which also caused him from walking properly. When our Foster checked his teeth, as he was drooling, she noticed a mass on the roof of his mouth (again none of this is noted on his medical chart).  This poor dog is in terrible shape and after confronting the New Hope staff about the neglect from the shelter, we were told they were sorry but the best they could do was to pick him back up and bring him to the shelter.  Of course, we all know what that means!!! Death!! Puff will NEVER return to that shelter.  We were also told that the shelter budget doesn't allow for treatments that Puff needed but the budget doesn't allow for the cost of a scissor and a bath???!! They couldn't even do that for him to rid him of his infestation of fleas and remove the mats on his rear legs so he can walk?  It wasn't even noted anywhere that this poor dog could not use his back legs due to mating and could not use his right from paw at all.  Either he was truly never seen by a vet or the shelter vet is blind.  Puff deserved the medical treatment that was so greatly needed when he arrived at that shelter but instead the critical and most obvious things were ignored and he was put on the adoption floor in the state he was in.  Since no one had interest in the few days he was there, he was put up on the euthanasia list.  Why?? Because they didn't want to care for his medical needs so killing him was easier.

PUFF WILL BE COMING TO NJ ON MONDAY TO SEE OUR RESCUE VET FOR HIS DENTAL, NEUTER AND BLOOD WORK AND X-RAYS ON HIS DEFORMED SMASHED LEG AND FOOT.

PLEASE MAKE CALLS TO SUPPORT THE NEGLECT OF PUFF AND ALL THE ANIMALS AT ALL NY ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL.
