Uptown Works: Next Level

You may have heard about Uptown Works , a new coworking community in Somerset, PA.  We've renovated an old hotel built in the 1880's and brought it new life as a center for local professionals and non-profits to work and meet.  It features open desk seating, private offices, meeting and training space. We've been open since July 2018 and our memberships is growing! Locally, the community is really excited about it.  It's one piece of the puzzle to revive our uptown business district.

Here is a video about Uptown Works featured on "We Mean Business in Somerset County."

Most of the construction is complete, and like many renovation projects involving old buildings, we ended up over budget due the upgrades we had to make to our electric and plumbing and the addition of air-conditioning. In addition to various grants and other fundraising we're doing, we need YOUR help to keep the momentum and finish off a few important projects that will take Uptown Works to the NEXT LEVEL - a coworking destination that will attract non-locals to live, work, and play in Somerset.

Here are just a few examples:

1. Exterior beautification and repair.  In the front of  the building, we'd like to update our exterior with some eye catching window signage, and add window boxes and planters. The back stairway of the building was never painted on the outside, and we need to finish this to help keep moisture out. Estimated cost: $10,000.

2. Outdoor seating.
We want to make lemonade out of lemons by putting outdoor seating where our storage room used to be. (It had to come down because the foundation was failing.)  Your help will let us create a private, comfortable seating area outside for coworkers and guests. Estimated cost: $10,000.

We have a goal of raising $20,000 through GoFundMe to finish these projects.

We'd be so grateful for your help.  Uptown Works is more than just a coworking office.  It's a beacon that will attract other people to invest in our uptown, and maybe even draw back some of our talented professionals who left for college and never returned home. Your donation increases our odds of success in a really meaningful way, because you're showing that you believe in Somerset and the people here.  Thank you!!
