Underground Orillia

There are big things happening for Underground Orillia! Aaron, Shane, Xavier and Olivia were entirely humbled by all the people who attended and all the positive comments we received after the August 29th Premiere at the Rotary Aqua Theater! We are eternally grateful for the support of so many people, the City for hosting us and to everyone who braved the rain to be there.

We're SUPER excited to tell you that we have rented the Orillia Opera House for Wednesday November 28th  to run two showings of the movie that evening. These shows are free. Full Stop. We don't want people to stay away from seeing the movie because of finances. Goodness knows this movie got made on the backs of volunteers, we can't bring ourselves to charge Orillians to see it.

That being said...film-making is not free, renting the Opera House certainly isn't free, nor is the insurance, supplies etc.. that is going into paying for our "Indoor Premiere". If you are able to help, at all, by donating a few bucks to the cost of the night it would REALLY help. Until now, everything for Underground Orillia has been paid for by a couple small donations, loans of office space, free accommodations at my parents house, hundreds of hours of donated time and self-funding on behalf of the producers to purchase software, and gas, and food and so forth to create the movie.

The movie you will see on November 28th will be the "Film Festival" version, and your donation will be supporting  our submission to the Hot Docs film festival in Toronto.  Submissions for Hot Docs are happening now and we will submit our latest version after premiering it at the Opera House. This means we are spending the money now.  Post production is expensive and to be ready for Hot Docs, we need to up the game on the movie, and we are doing that.  We are doing everything we can to  keep the "cash-cost" down by committing hundreds more volunteer hours to the movie but we are re-shooting parts, re-mastering audio, adding graphic text and these all have cash costs. And we are hoping you will consider helping with those costs, and the costs of the Opera House rental.

Make no mistake, we want you to come and see the movie and that is free.

As independent filmmakers, being able to take Underground Orillia to Hot Docs would be a dream come true, and that we couldn't do without you. Please come to the shows, share our social media tagging Hot Docs (@hotdocs #hotdocs) and by donating if you can.

Watch here and our Facebook Page for times and details. See you November 28th!

If you have a business and you want to partner with us to bring your message to our audiences please contact Aaron to discuss sponsorship.
