The UNCW Japan Club has been given the exciting opportunity to help bring an iconic Ginkgo tree to Wilmington thanks to Kathleen Burkinshaw and the Green Legacy Hiroshima Initiative .
Ms. Burkinshaw is trying to plant a piece of Hiroshima in North Carolina and the UNCW Japan Club has volunteered to help her. We would be given a sapling grown from a seed of an original tree that survived the atomic bombing to plant.
Our job at the UNCW Japan Club is to raise money for the plaque that will document this historic moment. Please help us bring this beautiful and powerful piece of Japan to North Carolina!
We need about $430 before the end of the semester (May 4)! It's a tight schedule but if we can all pitch in just a little, we will all have the chance to be a part of this exciting moment.
Any extra money we might earn will go to the UNCW Japan Club's cultural events and activites, such as calligraphy, movies, tea ceremonies, and more.
