Keisha's Anti-Cancer Campaign
Many of you know my sister, Keisha Allen, and just how close we are. In the past 2 weeks we have learned that she has a rare form of cancer known as Leimysarcoma. In her case, it has produced a large and agressive tumor in an abdominal muscle. This sarcoma has already grown in size since her appointment 7 days ago, and she has been scheduled for surgery on Tuesday, May 19th to remove it.
Due to the highly aggressive nature, she will undergo a procdure that will remove a muscle and minimum of one rib in her side. We are hopeful that they can remove it all, and that it will not return. Unfortunately, this sarcoma has a high rate of return. Regardless, she will be down for a good 6 weeks after her surgery. We are asking for encouragement and support throughout this time. She has 2 young children and will not be able to work, pick up anything over 10-15 lbs, or help in her upcoming move on June 30th. Her husband, Billy Cooper, has also just started a new job and was expecting to work long hours to open a new restaurant.
We would be so grateful for any financial support that can be given to help with surgery and recovery expenses at this time. We will also form a calendar to have friends volunteer to bring meals for the family and/or watch the kids. With summer coming up and the cost of daycare (without Keisha's regular contribution to the household income) things will get very difficult.
Thank you all for any support, in any way. We have already seen many friends and family offer help with kids and give amazing encouragement during the past 2 weeks. I will send out updates as we go through this.
Hey y'all, I just want to say how appreciative I am for everyone's help. It is not in my nature to ask others for assistance, so this is especially awkward for me. I have a long way to go with all of this, but I will do my best to keep you all informed on my progress. Thanks again, from me and my family.
Hey guys, pathology came back really bland, so no radiation! Hoping to be back by the end of the month to work. Till then, I'm still on bed rest!
Hey Everyone, I just wanted to take a quick second to say thank you to everyone who has donated or helped out in anyway. There really are no words that can express how gracious I am for all of you. The outpouring of support has been amazing and somewhat overwhelming. Every time I open this page, or Facebook, or my e-mail, it brings tears to my eyes. It is truly amazing. I appreciate all of you so much! Thank you!
