Bus for Ugandan School Children

Join us in raising money for a school bus for "The Sky Is The Limit School" in Uganda!


Please join me in helping “The Sky Is The Limit School” (Pre-K to 7th Grade) of Fort Portal, Uganda purchase a used school bus. Many of the children who attend this school walk up to 8 km from their homes. When they arrive they are often so tired they can’t stay awake through classes. During monsoon season it rains so hard that many of the children can’t come to school and those who do, arrive soaking wet. These challenges are compounded by a looming threat of abduction that all of the kids face on their way to school, particularly the young girls who can be taken as child brides.

Last year I visited the remarkable human being, Rose Kabasinguzi Mugenyi, who founded and runs The Sky is The Limit School. Seeing and experiencing the work that Rose has done saving the many children in her community, I saw the true meaning of selfless love and couldn’t walk away without trying to help.

As a public health nurse who was working within the AIDS/HIV crisis in Uganda, Rose came upon many children who had been abandoned due to the sickness and death of their parents. She adopted as many of these children as she could and took them into her home. Upon her retirement in 2002, she officially established the Noah’s Ark Orphanage and The Sky is The Limit School using her own retirement funds. The school has been licensed and registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports in Uganda and now serves 370 children from Pre-K to 7th grade.

The school and orphanage face many challenges but providing them with the funds to purchase this used bus will have a significant impact on the lives, health and education of these children. Since leaving Uganda, I have discussed and researched this plan thoroughly with Rose. I will continue to directly coordinate with her once we have successfully reached our goal from your donations and remain in contact until the purchase of the bus. I will of course update all you wonderful donors when the bus is finally delivered.
