Hi, my name is Lisa Labelle,
I am small town girl, from Crysler ON Canada. I was born and raised in Crysler. I am loyal to my community and they are my biggest supporters by far. My friends and family/Community have made a lot of this possible up to date. For that I want to thank them deeply!
I am a single parent, I raise my son on my own with no financial assistance from his father. I have been raising my son, who is now 6, alone since he was 10 months old. I get a lot of support from my family and friends when it comes to my son and both our busy lives.
I currently work two full time jobs trying to provide for my son but also trying to fufill this long time dream of mine, which is becoming an IFBB pro. I have competed a total of 5 times, finally qualifying for this years Provincials in Toronto, havening placed 2nd at the Ottawa, ON - Regional Qualifier. I have been saving for this day but nothing could prepare me for the cost of this event.
Some of you may be asking, what costs are associated with these types of events. I've added a little summary just to give you an idea of what it cost a competitior to compete:
Hair/Make-up/Tan: 350.00$
Hotel: 200$/ night
Trainer: 300$/ month
Supplements: 200$ / month
Suit: 500$ (plus)
OPA Registration: 150$
OPA Membership Card: 100$
OPA Photo / Video Package: 150.00$ (plus)
Travel/Parking/Gas: 200$
Food: 300$
Nails: 40$-60$
Gym Membership: 650 - 700$
Those are just those I can think of at the top of my head.
I was ready to quit, ready to stop chasing my dreams. I made a post on Facebook about feeling defeated, broke and tired and unable to continue with my fitness journey, what I didn't expect what the outpore of support I got from friends, family, the community and most of all fellow competitors. I knew at that point I couldn't give up. I have too many people who depend on me and rely on me to do this, people who look up to me, people I inspire and most of all, people want to see me succeed. I haven't had an easy life, and I'd like to keep that private....BUT...those who know me and are close to me know the struggles I have overcome to get to where I am today....those are the people I want to show, prove, I can do this because they know I am STRONG!
