Hello, my name is Savannah. I come from a single income family of three. I was diagnosed with Malocclusion (misaligned teeth) and Crossbite around 2015, after being referred by dentists to seek medical help for my jaw.
Numerous phone calls, dentists, and an orthodontist later, we try filing for insurance to cover the costs and this drags on for almost three years. I have already lost teeth due to my bite not being aligned. I also suffer from TMJ almost everyday most often associated with pain. If I cannot get the surgery, it will continue to worsen. The insurance company was given all of this information and more. Although it had been deemed medically necessary, not only by doctors, I also exceeded the guidelines required by the insurance, but they decided that they will have no part in paying towards any of the costs. We have already spent thousands of dollars in insurance (not including premiums) with my mom being in and out of the hospital the past few years due to cancer-related surgeries, with an upcoming surgery in December. We tried pleading and going to the highest level we can to appeal, though nothing worked we found that we had to pay out of pocket. It is most definitely the most expensive route but it’s the only option we have.
The $5,000 raised will go straight to the down payment that Regional One Hospital requires the date of my surgery. In total we have to pay around $30,000 out of pocket and loans. Any donation amount would be greatly appreciated and would help my family and I out so much!!! Please and thank you!!!
