The UC Davis Taekwondo Club has been established for over 30 years. The club is open to any UC Davis student, regardless of their experience or past training.

Anybody who has been a student athlete understands the difficulty of balancing school, work, and internships with true dedication to a sport.  For us, taekwondo is more than just a hobby - it is a passion and a lifestyle. As a team, we have grown together and learned so much from one another. We support each other in and out of the ring, and we always give 110% – but sometimes this is not enough.

This year, 10 of us on the UC Davis team have been given the opportunity to compete in the 2015 National Collegiate Championships held at the University of Delaware.  As you can imagine, the combined cost of our team’s airfare, hotel stay, registration fees, and other travel expenses (we eat a lot) adds up fast. Club sports are self-funded; we rely entirely on fundraisers and donations to continue our training and actively attend tournaments and scrimmages.

By donating to our team, you are directly funding our passions and dreams. We have set up a system so we can try and give back as much as we can to those who support us in and out of the ring.

If you decide to donate, please send the name your donation is under and your mailing address to taekwondo@campusrec.ucdavis.edu . In return for your generosity you will receive:

Bronze ($1-$50): A mailed newsletter, signed thank you card from the UC Davis Taekwondo Team, 8x10 portrait of the team, and a certificate of achievement

Silver ($50-$100): A mailed newsletter, signed thank you card from the team, 8x10 portrait of the team, certificate of achievement, and a UC Davis Taekwondo shirt

Gold:  ($100+): A mailed newsletter, signed thank you card from the team, 8x10 portrait of the team, certificate of achievement, a UC Davis Taekwondo shirt, and a mention in our 2016 Fall Open program

No donation is too little, we genuinely appreciate every bit of support. Thank you, in advance, for any help you can offer.

U.S. Senior Nationals are just 8 weeks away, and the UC Davis Taekwondo team has been kicking into competition mode! Daily training and local scrimmage participation are just a couple of the ways we're preparing for Texas this year.

We would like to take this time to remind everyone:
If you have donated to our team, please email taekwondo@campusrec.ucdavis.edu your Mailing Address and T-Shirt Size!! We would love the chance to give back to everyone who has supported us. As always, thank you all so much for your continued support. Nothing goes unnoticed, and we would not be where we are today without you.

This past weekend, the UC Davis Taekwondo team competed at the 40th Collegiate National Championships at the University of Delaware. Combined, the ten of us had 23 matches at the end of the weekend. 9 of these were won by a gap, and all of them were fought until the end. We left Delaware with one bronze, one silver, and one gold. However, that's not all we left with.

We also returned home with lessons learned, and an even stronger bond between one another. Our trip taught us what skills we should work on for the next upcoming tournaments, and it also taught us that together we are unstoppable. No matter what happened in the ring, we remembered to draw strength from one another and stand together as a team.

In addition to everything else, all of us qualified to compete this summer at the 2015 U.S. National Championships in Austin, Texas! We will be continuing our training and competing at more local tournaments and scrimmages to prepare.

Many thanks are owed to our own Coach Antipa, and to our Collegiate Assistant Coach Fred Estrada.

We would also like to give a special thanks to Chuck Buhs from the Mount Shasta Martial Arts Program and Richard Florendo from Mountain Fitness for hosting us in Mount Shasta a couple of weeks ago. We were given the opportunity to train for Collegiates in a high altitude region, teach a class, and present a demo to the Mount Shasta community. Thank you both, and to the residents of the area, for being so welcoming and accommodating! We couldn't have done it without you all.

And last but not certainly most least, thanks to all of YOU for your support and motivating words! Your help so far has been tremendous and we are so grateful. We can't wait to see what else is in store.
