UA ICMA Chapter

Donation protected

I am writing on behalf of the University of Arizona’s International Cities/Counties Management Association Chapter (UA ICMA).

We are excited to announce that this fall semester is the roll-out of a student chapter with an organization that has international recognition and annually provides students with resources to ethical leadership skills for local government.

As a student organization at the University of Arizona we are planning on providing professional networking, opportunities to attend national conferences, create an all-day UA ICMA seminar, as well as building the necessary proficiency as future city and municipality managers.

In addition, we will be introducing a high school mentorship program to help get youth involved with government work and break some of the misconceptions surrounding local government. These future leaders are learning the importance of collaborations with public, private and nonprofit organizations in order to provide effective services. This donation will directly benefit everyone both in the short-term for student’s professional opportunities, but also long-term as they will be key decision-makers within our communities.

We firmly believe that the public sector is only as strong as our collaborators, so we also extend resources to future collaborators in order to create lasting relationships that will benefit our community.

2017 Focuses:

·       Professional Networking Events (4-6): Resume Building, Crafting Professional Social Media Pages, and other initiatives proposed by students

·       Funding scholarships to the Annual ICMA Conference in San Antonio: Networking, Workshops, Sharing of Best Practices, Opportunities to meet other ICMA University Chapters

·       UA ICMA Conference/Seminar: targeting high school, undergraduate, graduate and young professionals

·     UA ICMA Alumni Committee: build a thriving alumni network of UA graduates in related fields that can positively impact the future local leaders and their collaborators

·      Local High School Mentorship Program: a professional development for youth to teach them about local government and to provide internships/volunteer opportunities at a younger age
