Diane's Vehicle

My name is Mary and my sister Diane is my best friend. She is the most caring, selfless person one could ever meet. She has had challenges in her life, like many of us have, yet she always stays positive and makes the best of her situation. Last year she lost her job, she carried on since she knew that her husband Ken had an income that would support them. They weren't the extravagant sort; mostly enjoying a trip or two in a year. Diane seldom spent money on herself, getting by with the essentials.
Tragically, in August Diane's husband Ken died after a very short battle with cancer - he was only 69. The next day, our mom died. The shock and grief worked it's way through all of us, but understandably, Diane was dealt with a double whammy. She is doing ok, or so she says. She keeps carrying on - she knows she has to. She has 4 wonderful children and 3 beautiful granddaughters; not to mention the strong relationship she has with Ken's kids, grandkids, and great grand kids; for them she carries on.
Until today - everyone has a breaking point.
Because the vehicles that she and Ken had were in Ken's name, and she had no income after he died, and no life insurance policy to use to pay for the loan, she had to give up the vehicles; as expected, she remained positive throughout the process. Our brother was kind enough to give her our mom's 12 year old vehicle, hoping it would help her get by; unfortunately, it is not road worthy and cannot be certified.
My hope is to raise some money for her to put towards a vehicle; something that will be safe for her and her passengers. She doesn't know i am doing this and will likely be very embarrassed, but i hope she will see that there comes a time when everyone needs a break. That's all she needs right now is a little break - enough to buy a car, and let this situation not be a stress.
She needs something soon with winter approaching.
