Bring Taylor Home

On Sunday December 4th, my nephew Justin Taylor Morrison took his own life in Seattle Washington. We are still learning all the details surrounding this untimely tragedy. I cannot begin to explain how devastating this is for our family.

Justin Taylor, was a United States Marine Veteran, formerly stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego California. as you all have probably read on the news there are many veterans who deal with PTSD and end up taking their lives. This is such a tragedy in America today.Researchers found that the risk of suicide for veterans is 21 percent higher when compared to civilian adults. From 2001 to 2014, as the civilian suicide rate rose about 23.3 percent, the rate of suicide among veterans jumped more than 32 percent.

Justin Taylor recently moved to Seattle, Washington, which is where he was found.

We are working on getting his remains and his belongings back home to California, including working with veteran’s affairs and TAPS- (Tragedy assistance program for survivors).

His one and only sister who loved him deeply would like to get to Seattle to collect his things and see him before the cremation to say goodbye. We are trying to raise money to pay for transportation to get her there. We are hoping to get assistance from the Veterans affairs to help pay for the cremation, flag and services.

We do not have a total amount that needs to be raised yet, until we know if the VA will help at all.

Any and all help to get Whitney to Seattle will be greatly appreciated. Much love to all of you.
